Güterloft Altefähr on Rügen

The Altefähr Freight Loft was built in 1936 adjacent to the Altefähr train station, which had been in operation since 1883. It served as a storage and transshipment facility and underwent extensive renovation in 2022. To the extent permitted by historic preservation regulations, the renovation focused on sustainability and accessibility; the building is equipped with a heat pump and can be accessed via its renovated ramp, making it barrier-free.

The central gathering place in the building is the large living area, which includes a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area. From the living area, you can access the four separate bedrooms, all of which are equipped with double beds. The three bathrooms are also accessible separately, eliminating the need for walk-through rooms entirely. The entire interior is heated by a centrally controlled underfloor heating system.

Thanks to its prime location and preserved industrial design, this freestanding building exudes genuine railway charm. The former loading ramp now serves as a large terrace directly in front of the building. The large paved open areas in front of the building also allow for access with larger vehicles or trailers. The building is located on the Baltic Sea Coastal Cycle Route and, despite its seemingly secluded location, is very centrally situated. Local public transportation is available via bus and train and is within walking distance.
